Committed Volunteers

In the 37-years of our organization, no staff member, including our Director/Founder, has received any compensation. All staff positions are volunteer.

Dr. Eric Aho, Founder/Director - All-Star Brass Band Educational Foundation
Eric W. Aho, Ph.D.

Founder – The All-Star Brass Bands (1986)
Director, Varsity and the All-Star Brass and Percussion (ASBP)

Dr. Eric Aho is the Founder and Director of The All-Star Brass Bands. Dr. Aho is a member of the Brass Band of Columbus (BBC) of which he is a charter member (since 1984) and sits as principal euphonium.

Dr. Aho received a Doctoral Degree in Music Education at The Ohio State University. He also holds a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Art in Music degrees from The Ohio State University.

Dr. Aho was previously the Editor of The Bridge, the official journal of the North American Brass Band Association (NABBA) and has served on the NABBA Board of Directors.

He has held past positions as the Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Fine Arts-Music at Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia. While completing his doctorate, he was; Assistant Professor of Music, Assistant Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. He is also the previous Orchestra Director at Westland High and Norton Middle Schools in the Southwest City School District before beginning his doctorate work in Music Education.

Dr. Aho is Director of Bands and Orchestras for Independence High School in Columbus City Schools.

Dr. Aho was the 1998 recipient of the Music Award presented by the God and Country Committee of the Salvation Army.  Dr. Aho is the chair of the God and Country committee.

He is a frequent clinician and adjudicator of wind bands and honors bands throughout the United States.

Amy Aho

The All-Star Brass Bands Educational Fund, Inc.

Amy Aho has a widely varied background in music and business. She was trained on Trombone in her hometown of Logan, Ohio, and continued to be interested in music as an ensemble performer throughout her college years at The Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where she earned a B.S. in Interior Design in 1983.

Mrs. Aho has an extensive business background in commercial, educational and industrial design and construction industry. She is presently Managing Partner for Project Planning Solutions, LLC.

Mrs. Aho became affiliated with The All-Star Brass Bands in 1991 and assumed the role as their Business Manager the next year. In 2000, she became the Secretary-Treasurer of the organization. In this capacity, she directs the Business Managers and performs the day-to-day tasks of managing the organization. Mrs. Aho is a very accomplished musicians and frequently performs on Trombone and Baritone with the All-Star Staff Band.

In addition to her very demanding career, Mrs. Aho is active supporting the various activities of their three children – all three children of whom are All-Star Alumni members.
