Overview – The All-Star Brass Bands Educational Fund, Inc.

The All-Star Brass Bands were formed in 1986 by Eric Aho after his first year as a member of the new Brass Band of Columbus made him realize there were no vehicles for youth brass bands in the United States. As the first youth honors brass band, based on the British Brass Band, the All-Stars were the first of its kind in the 140 year history of brass bands in North America.

With a rich history of success in performance and competition, having won at the top levels at the North American Brass Band Association (NABBA) Competitions (many first- and second-place wins in every adult and youth division except Championship Division – where the BBC competes), the All-Stars have consistently lead youth brass bands in America. However, while a local secret save for an inner circle until most recently, the All-Stars are extremely well known and respected at a National and International level. The All-Stars receive numerous prestigious invitations to major festivals, concert engagements, and competitions – most go into a scrapbook as the organization tries to keep its costs to a minimum.
